Where do Vegans Get Their Iron?

Where do Vegans Get Their Iron?

I am Iron Man!

Iron-deficiency is probably the most common issue regarding nutrition. Lack of focus, fatigue, weak immune system and pale skin are common signs that your body is not producing adequate red blood cells.

This is something that commonly affects adolescents and older people, but nobody in the middle is impervious to iron-deficiency.

The old adage goes that if you need more iron, You.Need.Meat. However, Vegetarians and Vegans with a balanced diet are far less likely to suffer from an iron-deficiency than meat-eaters.

The iron that is found in meat (haem iron) frequently builds up in the human body causing side effects such as nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and constipation.

When excessive quantities of meat are consumed, diabetes, liver damage and heart failure are quite prevalent.

The fact of the matter is, you would be surprised at how little iron meat actually contains when compared to cheaper, sustainable options.
